Lesson Plans with Accommodations and Modifications
The Museum has three versions of a one-day lesson plan that provides an introduction to the Holocaust by defining the term “Holocaust” and highlighting one personal story of a victim of the Holocaust.
The Introduction to the Holocaust One Day Lesson features scaffolding for student activities, multiple options to differentiate instruction, and a short film clip to convey information to support reading comprehension.
The Pre-Modified Introduction to the Holocaust One Day Lesson provides additional scaffolding for students who need more instructional support and modifications. The modifications are incorporated into the lesson plan sequence and the student interactive.
The Introduction to the Holocaust Lesson for Students with Low-Incidence and Intellectual Disabilities introduces key concepts and information and highlights Anne Frank's story through an accessible video. It also uses a short video clip to convey information.
The three versions of the Introduction to the Holocaust lesson provide three tiers of intervention strategies. The first lesson is tier one, providing 80% of students with universal instruction. The second lesson is tier two, which provides targeted intervention. The third lesson is tier three and includes intensive interventions.
Most Museum lesson plans also have an online, asynchronous student version that provides additional accommodations. They work with screen readers and include alt text. View the list of lessons here.
