Holocaust survivor and Museum volunteer Nat Shaffir reads victims’ names in the Hall of Remembrance during Days of Remembrance in 2016. US Holocaust Memorial Museum
The US Congress established Days of Remembrance as the nation’s annual commemoration of the Holocaust. The Museum leads the national ceremony in the US Capitol and encourages observances throughout the country. At this dangerous time of surging antisemitism, it is more important than ever that we remember the victims and honor the survivors.
Reading the names of Holocaust victims during Days of Remembrance is an especially meaningful way to honor those who were killed. Museum visitors are welcome to read names from their own connections to this history or names provided from historical records. You may also listen to names being read or light a memorial candle.
This event is open to the public. Passes are not required to visit the Hall of Remembrance on the second floor.
