Museum Statement on UAE Visit

WASHINGTON, DC - The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum would like to thank the government of the United Arab Emirates for hosting our delegation last month and the warm welcome we received. The UAE is a regional leader in recognizing the importance of Holocaust history and the need to confront hate and promote tolerance. As America’s national memorial to the Holocaust, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum seeks to ensure the permanence of Holocaust memory and to educate citizens and leaders worldwide about Holocaust history and its ongoing lessons for all of humanity, including the dangers of extremism and unchecked hate and antisemitism. It also seeks to do what was not done for the Jews of Europe by working to prevent genocide today.

For more than a decade, the Museum has been working to build partnerships in the Middle East and North Africa to create educational resources and bring Holocaust education and awareness to the region. We undertook this trip to begin exploring potential long-term cooperation with institutions in the UAE. We found there to be a substantial interest in working together and look forward to advancing those relationships in the months ahead.

زيارة وفد من متحف ذكري الهولوكوست بالولايات المتحدة الأمريكية إلى دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة

واشنطن دي سي - يتقدم متحف ذكرى الهولوكوست بالولايات المتحدة بالشكر لحكومة دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة على استضافة وفد المتحف الذي زار دولة الإمارات الشهر الماضي وعلى الحفاوة والترحيب اللذين قوبل بهما الوفد. إنّ الإمارات العربية المتحدة دولة رائدة في المنطقة من حيث إدراكها لأهمية تاريخ الهولوكوست والحاجة لمكافحة الكراهية وتعزيز قيم التسامح. وباعتباره الصرح التذكاري الوطني الأمريكي للهولوكوست، يسعى متحف الهولوكوست الأمريكي إلى ضمان استدامة ذكرى الهولوكوست وتعريف المواطنين والقادة في جميع أنحاء العالم بتاريخ الهولوكوست والدروس المستفادة منه للبشرية جمعاء، بما في ذلك إبراز مخاطر التطرف والكراهية غير المبرّرة ومعاداة السامية. كما يسعى المتحف إلى تفادي تكرار وقوع أي إبادة جماعية اليوم، مثل ما حدث لليهود في أوروبا.

ظلّ المتحف، منذ أكثر من عقد من الزمان، في العمل على بناء شراكات في الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا لإيجاد موارد تعليمية ونشر المعرفة عن الهولوكوست والتوعية بشأنه في المنطقة. وقام وفد المتحف بهذه الزيارة للبدء في استكشاف إمكانية التعاون مع المؤسسات في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة على المدى الطويل. ووجدنا اهتمامًا كبيرًا بالعمل معنا ونتطلع إلى تطوير هذه العلاقات في الأشهر المقبلة.
